Indonesia’s inbound tourism continues to grow, with official statistics for Q1 2025 showing a strong start to the year — reinforcing investor confidence in the country’s tourism and real estate sectors.

 Key Data: January–March 2025

According to Indonesia’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the country welcomed:

  • 2.7 million foreign tourists in the first three months of 2025

  • This represents a 7.83% increase compared to Q1 2024

  • Average spending per tourist: $1,277 per trip

  • Average length of stay: 10.94 nights

 Bali Outpaces the National Recovery

While Indonesia overall has yet to fully recover to pre-pandemic levels — with 2019 remaining the record year at 16.1 million international visitorsBali stands out as the clear leader in both recovery and growth.

Thanks to its well-developed infrastructure, high-end villa market, and global brand appeal, Bali has already surpassed many of its pre-COVID benchmarks, attracting digital nomads, luxury travelers, and long-stay tourists year-round.

 2025 National Target

Indonesia is aiming to attract between 14.6 and 16 million foreign tourists by the end of 2025.

In comparison, 13.9 million tourists visited the country in 2024.

 Contrast: Thailand Faces Stagnation

Meanwhile, regional competitor Thailand reported only 0.1% growth in tourist arrivals in Q1 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. The Thai government is reportedly concerned and reviewing strategies to stimulate recovery.

This contrast further emphasizes Indonesia’s competitive advantage in the Southeast Asian travel market — particularly Bali.
